Requirements for promotion to 7th Kyu

(Blue Belt)

Attendance: Minimum of 24 classes based on a 3 to 4 month period.

  Basics (Kihon)

*All previous and current hand techniques also all underlined techniques will be given in Japanese terms*

  Hands (Te)

All Previous Basics Plus:

  1.   Stepping punch Immovable stance/Counter punch Front stance (Oizuki Fudo-dachi/ Gyaku- zuki Zuki Zenkutsu-dachi)

  2. Down block/ Stepping punch (Gedan-barai/ Oizuki)

  3. Rising block/ Stepping punch (Age-uke/ Oizuki)

  4. Outside block/ Stepping punch (Soto-uke/ Oizuki)

  5.  Inside block/ Stepping punch (Uchi-uke/ Oizuki).

  6. Step forward Knife hand block Back stance/ Spearhand thrust Front stance (Mae-ni Shuto-uke kokutsu-dachi/ Nukite Zenkutsu-dachi)

Kicks and Combinations (Geri/Rengo-suru)

1.      Down block/ Counter punch/ Front kick (Gedan- barai/ Gyaku-zuki/ Mae-geri)

2.      Rising block/ Counter punch/ Front kick (Age-uke/ Gyaku-zuki/ Mae-geri)

3.      Outside block/ Counter punch/ Front kick (Soto-uke/ Gyaku-zuki/ Mae-geri)

4.      Inside block/ Counter punch/ Front kick (Uchi-uke/  Gyaku-zuki/ Mae-geri)

Combinations 1 thru 4 donesame as above but with a Side kick, Roundhouse kick or Hook kick

5.      Back fist/ Back kick (Uraken/ Ushiro-geri)

6.      Jab/ Counter punch/ Front leg Front kick ( Mae-te-zuki/ Gyako-zuki/ Mae-ashi Mae-geri)

7.      Jab/ Counter punch/ Front leg Roundhouse kick (Mae-te-zuki/ Gyako-zuki/ Mae-ashi Mae-mawashi-geri

8.      Side kick/Back kick (Yoko-geri/ Ushiro-geri)

9.      Back Roundhouse kick (Ushiro-mawashi-geri)

10.  Back fist/ Crossing roundhouse kick Horse stance (Uraken/ Mae-mawashi-geri Kiba-dachi)

 

Kata Form/ Formal exercise)

All previous kata, Tekkiyoku Nidan (Second Cause) and Heian Sandan (Peaceful Mind #3)

 

Sparring (Kumite)

1.      Basic One-Step Sparring (Kihon Ippon Kumite) * All previous and the following*

a)ATTACK: Middle level front kick---DEFENSE: Step back down block and        counter punch.

b)ATTACK: Middle level roundhouse kick--- DEFENSE: Step back inside block and counter punch

2.      Three point match (Shobu Sanbon Kumite)
