Tora is a member of a primitive isolated tribe
of magic wielding Norsemen. She has had the uncanny ability to
magically control the formation and flow of ice since birth.
When she was in her late teens, Tora's tribe was discovered by
an American explorer, who convinced her to return to
civilization with him (SECO-033). Later she became a
member of the Global Guardians as the second Icemaiden; and
when the Guardians broke up, she joined the JLI along with her
friend Green Flame (JLIA-014). Later, the pair change their
names to simply "Fire" and
"Ice."
Tora was shy, but good-natured, a complete alien from the
civilized world and its customs. Since her friend Fire has
always served as her tutor, Tora had formed a somewhat unusual
view of the modern world.
Ice was the only member of the JLI who has ever shown any
compassion for Guy Gardner, and even agreed to go on a date
with him. Needless to say, this occasion cured her of her
misapprehensions about Guy (JLIA-028). (RW)
Ice sacrificed her life in the last
encounter with the Overmaster.
